Interesting. Never got reports about a non-working patch. I'm not able to patch the game, too. The patch_01.dat must be extracted but I can't at the moment. This will take some time to find it out if nobody else can help here.
To save time, pack your savegame as ZIP or RAR and load it up as an attachment in your next post. I will fix it by hand.
